Celebrates 10 Years of Commitment
To Public Education
October 1997 marked the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Bangor Education Foundation. From a small but committed group of parents who gathered with a common goal in 1987, the organization has grown to supporters whose contributions make BEF's programs possible. From it's inception, the Foundation has encouraged innovative teaching through it's Small Grants Program and fostered public debate on education issues via the Public Forum Series. In 1992, BEF established Community Reading Day, the immensely popular regional reading event now heading into its sixth year. Join BEF as it embarks on a second decade of commitment to excellence in Bangor's public schools.
Watch for the Community Resources Database!
In 1992, the Bangor
Education Foundation compiled a database of resources to help
teachers and parents find interesting activities, information and
people in the Bangor region. We are converting this database to
electronic format, and as soon as it is ready, we will include it
on our web site. Check the community resources database button on
our home page later this summer!

Hand in Hand will let you know about our latest Small Grant Awards for classroom projects. It will update you on plans for this year's Community Reading Day in schools across the region. It will notify you about upcoming speakers and presentations.
