Report of the Music Committee

The Music Committee has completed another successful year performing its usual duties and promoting beautiful music.

The Junior Choir continues to provide music for the service each Sunday. In June, Heather MacLeod took a year's leave of absence, and Robin Shaler capably stepped into her spot. We know that Heather is enjoying her year off with her baby, Christopher, and we look forward to her return but feel very fortunate to have Robin directing the Junior Choir this year. They delight us with their energy and pleasant sounds. All the parent support is greatly appreciated.

Special summer music was provided by the following vocal and instrumental solists: Shelley Gilman, Connie Carter, Ludlow Hallman, Griffith Lambert, Caroline Levy, Heather MacLeod, Josh Whitehouse, Lara Harris, Waldo Caballero, Anatole Wieck, Camden Carter, Ian Gallagher and Caroline Leick. Alice Mumme substituted for John Thomas during the summer. We are extemely fortunate to have so many talented musicians in the area to provide us with music during the summer.

Many thanks to the members of the Senior Choir for providing such wonderful music Sunday after Sunday. We are fortunate to have a volunteer choir of such high caliber. The choir has seen a major change this year. Lud Hallman, our very talented director, left in August to spend a year in Austria. We reminded him he is only on loan and expected back in September. In Lud's absence, we are extremely fortunate to be under the capable leadership of Steve Hodgdon. Steve continues to challenge the singers with some of his favorite English church music and even expects the choir to look at him when he conducts. Imagine!

Of course, we are more than blessed with a talented and very capable organist, John Thomas. His skill and musicianship keep beautiful organ music a consistent part of our Sunday morning service. John continues to find new and beautiful ways to use our organ to enhance our worship and provide us with such impressive music every Sunday.

Thank you all for another year of wonderful music making!

Repectfully,
Connie Carter
