Report of the Long Range Planning
Committee
The third revision of the church's
Long Range Plan was completed in 1996. The questionnaire sent out in 1986
and 1991 was revised substantially by the committee, Dr. Plummer, and the
officers of the Board of Deacons and Trustees. A series of seven meetings
was held from March to October to revise and refine the survey; the final
survey was distributed in early November. We achieved a response rate of
nearly 50%, which is higher than that of the two previous surveys. Reminders
in WIND, Sunday bulletins, and from the pulpit, undoubtedly helped to increase
responses.
Results of the survey were analyzed
by the committee and a Long Range Plan was written in early 1996. Results
were presented to the two boards, and then the Plan was distributed to
members and friends of the church. We are awaiting news of implementations
of recommendations.
