Mobile Memories

“Mobile Memories” is a museum of memories brought back from Vietnam. Mobile memories is an unfolding unit that will travel around the state of Maine on a trailer. It is built to go through doors so it may be displayed in schools or large gyms. This memorial  will extend to ninety feet in length and will  have shelves to hold items brought home from Vietnam.  People  will be able to see rucksack, boots, dog tags, and much more. The wall parts of the display will have four sections with the names of  the Maine POW, MIA, or KIA The names will be lazier printed in glass on the lower part of these walls.  The names will then be back lit so at dusk they will have a soft glow. We will ask all Nam vets that would like to be part of this to display anything that they have brought home from Vietnam.

The “Mobile Memories” will have a computer so we can scan letters and pictures from Vietnam.  Families, Friends, or siblings can look up information on Vietnam, The Wall, or even history on the Vietnam War.  We will add photographs to give the museum a more personal touch.  Traveling with the computer will be a digital camera so we can take pictures of the Vets now, their families, any plaques, medals, monuments and the old homestead of those who we lost over seas.  A TV/VCR combination will allow visitors to view historical films of that time.

The trailer can be built as the shape we stated above with the sides and roof being coal black. It will fold out from twenty-four feet long into ninety feet of display. On the inside we will have shelves and Plexiglas protecting all the things inside.  I was told it could be build for $10,000 for materials alone.  The Plexiglas, shelves, computer, TV/VCR, and digital camera will be another $6,000.

I am also looking to do a pamphlet/book to be given away wherever the “Mobile Memories” travels to.  The cover of the book will be snap-shots from Nam.  Inside will be approximately 25 pages for ads.  Full-page will cost $1000.00, ½ page is $500.00, and ¼ page will be $250.00 any donation under these prices will have their names put on the back pages under donations.  These ads can be used for business, organizations, or “in memory of”. We are also doing a section on a person sponsoring some names to be put on the “mobile Memories” which will cost $10.00 a name. On the back of each ad pages will list the town and names of the casualties from the state of Maine.  All the money collected for the project will be put 100% into the project.   We will be scanning pictures and letters to start building our database.

All donations will be handled by the corporations accountant and will keep track of all donations. she needs to know who gave how much and what part (Names, Trailer, project, computers) it is to be used for. I am also working to get a free ambulance given to the project to tow the trailer around the state.  It will be coal black with “MIA” and “POW” on the side plus it will say “Mobile Memories”, "unlocking the past" "the Vietnam War"

Your support is needed to complete the project. You can help in many ways. We need to pull vets out of the woodwork, 48,000 Maine people was in Vietnam and many more gave us support state side.
