Tax Time: Help Clean ElectionsTax time is here again, and with it the opportunity to promote campaign finance reform. How? By checking "YES" on Line 1 of the Maine individual income tax form.
Your check mark in that important box sends three of your tax dollars into the Clean Election Fund -- and it doesn't raise your tax bill or reduce your refund. The Clean Election Fund will let qualified candidates run for office without dialing for dollars, as long as they accept strict spending limits and reject all private money.
Putting a little money in is the best way to get the big money out. Join the 89,000 Maine taxpayers who last year raised $267,000 by checking "YES" for Clean Elections. And encourage your friends, family and co-workers to do the same.
