Guatemala Trip - Dec. 1999

h.o.m.e./Emmaus sponsors several trips each year to our sister Emmaus community in San Juan Comalapa, Chimaltenango, Guatemala. These are learning/helping trips with time spent in the study of Spanish and Maya culture and history. Many field trips are included.

   We visit our friends Marta and her brother Henry in our sister community in San Juan Comalapa.

   Looking down over the road to Comalapa from the ridge above Cojul Juyu. Women walk this road with baskets of corn on their heads for grinding into cornmeal.

   The children love to have their pictures taken. If you travel with a Polaroid camera just for handing out pictures, you will be an instant celebrity with the kids.
