Minutes of Meeting of November 13th, 2002

The Friends of the Library last met on November 13th.

The Secretary’s Report (in the October issue of the Library Lookout) was accepted as written.

The Treasurer, Kathy Hughes, reported that she had put $7000 from the Restoration/Renovation Fund into a 16 month CD so that it could earn a higher rate of interest. The balance of the fund – approximately $6600 – remains in the savings account where it will be easily accessible when needed.

Marcia Granville announced that there will be a garden tour on June 28, 2003. The Library Brown Bag Lunch will take place in April – and possibly once more during the year. In October, we plan to have another mystery play with dessert.

Marcia also announced that in May, the position of Secretary will have to filled by someone else. She has been on the Executive Board as long as the By-laws allow and she must step down for at least one year. She still wants to be on the Fund Raising Committee and will continue with plans already under way.

Following the meeting, those present put call numbers on the backs of biographies. The workers were divided into groups of three or four. One typed the labels while another stuck them on the books. A third person placed transparent tape over the labels. Where there were four people, one read off the call letters to the typist. By 9:30, approximately half the biographies were finished.
