Friends of Skowhegan Free Public Library Annual Meeting

May 8, 2002 7 PM

Minutes:

Mary Turbyne introduced the program for the evening. Robin Lisherness and eight of his speech students from SAHS read several short stories.These students will be going to Edinburgh with the drama club this summer. The business meeting was conducted after the program. There were no minutes from the last meeting due to the absence of the secretary. The treasurer’s report was the same already recorded at the Executive Board meeting on April 24; checking account balance of $3,324.39 and savings account balance of $11,615.83. Kathy Hughes reported that membership renewals, due at this time, have begun to arrive. No members of the Bloomfield Trustees were present; hence no report from the Trustees. Phil Russakoff presented a slate to elect president and vice president for a term of two years. Others on the nominating committee were Dick Sterns and Neola Davis. The slate included: Jim Foster for vice president and Corrilla Hastings for president. There were no further nominations from the floor. Jim and Corrilla were elected. It was reported that a profit of $1200 was made selling Library Lunches. This money will go towards the purchase of children’s nonfiction books. Kathy Hughes is in charge of this project and will be ordering the books soon. Members were reminded of the lawn sale on May 18. Jim Foster announced that computer classes will begin on Monday. Corrilla Hastings announced that the summer Wednesday afternoon programs and the summer reading program have been scheduled. The Wednesday morning story and craft hour will continue throughout the year. There was no new business. The meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Corrilla Hastings
