Home Page Police Department Policy

Persons who have been convicted of Gross Sexual Misconduct, where the victim was less than 15 years old, are required to register with the Maine Department of Corrections. Their names and residence are made available to law enforcement agencies for dissemination to neighbors who might be at risk.

The Bangor Police Department maintains a registry of all sex offenders who are required to register, as well as all convicted sex offenders who are deemed to be of "maximum risk" or "high risk" to the community.

This registry is available to the public at the police station. To access this information by telephone you must have a telephone with touch tone capability. Dial 207-947-7382. When the telephone is answered by the automated attendant, press *104.

Persons living next door to a person on the registry are notified within 7 days after the police department receives information from the State Bureau of Identification.
