1998 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Public Notification
The Bureau of Justice Assistance has informed the City of Bangor that it is eligible for a 1998 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant of $33,822. To receive these funds we must simply fill out an application indicating how we wish to use the funds, and provide a 10% cash match ($3,758) of the total cost of the project ($37,580.)
The funds can be used in almost any conceivable way to support law enforcement efforts. In the past we have used these funds to hire the first domestic violence investigator, and a mobile computer project support specialist. We propose to use the 1998 LLEBG funds to purchase two police vehicles for the junior high school liaison program.
This matter will be on the City Council agenda of July 27, 1998, for first reading. It will then be discussed at the Finance Committee meeting during the week of August 3, 1998. It should be back to the City Council for final discussion on August 10, 1998.
This webpage meets U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance requirements for public notification.
